Privacy Policy

Effective date: To be set by BidRebel and outside counsel before launch.

BidRebel has not launched yet. This policy describes how we handle the limited information collected today (early-access signups) and how we will handle information once the marketplace opens. Final retention windows and the effective date are confirmed with outside counsel before launch.

What this policy covers

BidRebel is a services marketplace. Customers post jobs. Contractors submit sealed bids. Customers pick the winner. This policy tells you what information we collect on bidrebel.com and in the BidRebel mobile app, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights.

Read it. We wrote it so you can.

If you disagree with anything in this policy, do not use BidRebel.

This policy applies to everyone who visits the site, fills out a form, signs up as a customer, applies as a contractor, or otherwise uses the service. It does not apply to third-party services we link to. Each third party has its own privacy practices.

The service is offered in the United States. We do not direct it to residents of the European Union, the United Kingdom, or other regions outside the United States.

What we collect

We collect different information from different people depending on how you use BidRebel.

If you visit the site. Your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. The standard technical data any website receives.

If you sign up for early access. Your name and email. We use it to tell you when BidRebel launches in your area.

If you apply as a contractor. Your business name, contact name, email, phone, service categories, years in business, employee count, service area, license number where applicable, insurance status and carrier, review links, website, a short bio, your interest in a background check, and how you heard about us.

If you join the marketplace (future). Your account login, payment method reference, job details, job-site address, photos you upload, messages you exchange, and ratings you give and receive. Contractors complete a background check through Checkr and identity verification through Stripe before they can bid or get paid. We receive only the result, not the underlying report.

What we do not collect. Social Security numbers. Driver's license numbers. Government ID numbers. Financial account numbers. Precise GPS coordinates. Health information. Biometric data. Information about your race, religion, sexual orientation, or political views. When the marketplace needs sensitive information (for example, a tax identifier for contractor tax reporting), Stripe or Checkr collects it directly under their own privacy practices. It does not pass through BidRebel.

How we use it

We use your information to run the service: to tell early-access signups when we launch, to evaluate contractor applications, to operate the marketplace (matching jobs to qualified contractors, surfacing the top sealed bids, processing payments, and supporting both sides through the job), and to send notifications you have asked for.

Account and bid-status messages go out by email or push by default. Marketing email and marketing text messages require a separate opt-in, and you can opt out at any time.

We use it to detect fraud, prevent abuse, and keep the marketplace safe, and to comply with legal obligations such as tax, dispute, and background-check recordkeeping.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not rent it to data brokers.

Who we share it with

Today, we share information with a small set of service providers who run the platform on our behalf:

When the marketplace launches, this list will grow to include Stripe for payment processing, contractor payouts, and contractor identity verification; Checkr for contractor background checks (Checkr collects the sensitive information directly and reports a pass-or-fail result; we do not store the report itself); and push and SMS gateways for the notifications you opt into.

Each service provider is bound by a written contract that limits their use of your information to the work we have hired them to do. If we are required to share information for legal reasons, we share only what the law requires. If we ever add an analytics or advertising vendor, we will update this policy and give you a way to opt out where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it. Early-access signups are kept until we have told you BidRebel has launched in your area, plus a short follow-up window. Contractor and customer account records are kept for the life of the account plus the tax-record period federal and state law require. When a retention window ends, we delete or de-identify the information unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Final retention windows are confirmed by outside counsel and stated here before launch.

Your choices and rights

You have rights over your information: to know what we have collected, to see a copy of it, to correct information that is wrong, to delete it (with limited exceptions for records the law requires us to keep), to take it with you in a portable format, and to opt out if we ever sell or share it for advertising (we do not do this today). You also have the right not to be treated worse for exercising any of these rights.

We honor these rights for everyone, no matter where you live. To exercise a right, email us at the address below. We will verify your identity and respond within the time the law allows.

Keeping your data secure

We use modern security practices. All connections to BidRebel use encryption in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher, TLS 1.3 on the public site). Sensitive fields are encrypted at rest. Access to your information is limited to the people and systems that need it. We log access and we monitor for unusual activity. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not. If a security incident affects your information, we will follow the breach-notification law in your state.
